Tips

Tips for Your Trip

  • Get some trail karma. The locals in British Columbia and their amazing network of trail builders and non profits take care of the trails. Be sure the be respectful of this amazing place. You can support the work of local volunteer trail organizations by making a donation in the area where you ride. None of this would be possible without their hard work.
  • Plan for all conditions. Different regions of British Columbia can have different an unexpected weather changes. You're in the mountains, so act accordingly. Plan to bring layers and rain protection in the event of a sudden storm. You'll be grateful you did.
  • Decide if you are booking a private group or joining a trip. Private groups have their advantages, and typically require 4-6 riders minimum. You'll have more control over the type of riding the group will do over the course of the trip. If you plan to join a trip with preset dates and a group you don't know, be sure to be honest and clear about your ability level and what you are hoping to accomplish/what you are comfortable with. This will help our team better match you with the right group and trip for you.
  • Decide on what type of riding your group wants. You can find everything in BC; Downhill, Cross Country, Freeride, Heli Biking or Gravity Assisted, Dirt Jump, All Mountain, Gravel, Road and more mellow Rail Trail excursions. Be sure you know what type of riding you would like to accomplish, or if you have more than one style that you are hoping for.
Perks

The Perks

Mountain Biking in British Columbia is steeped in tradition. Most of the trail networks were born out of rogue trails, built by locals for their own enjoyment, not necessarily with the intention of mass appeal. These trails have evolved over time into the trail system we know today. For this reason, you can find almost anything in BC, from extremely challenge rock drops and rugged technical trails to those rides that are perfect for beginners. But all of this stems from the hard work and dedication of the local bike community to keep building and maintaining. This is what makes this place so special, and a reason why mountain biking is such an important aspect of life in these towns in BC.

Most people come for the dirt or the challenge. Others come for the scenery. All are pleasantly surprised and come back year after year. Biking in British Columbia feels like a truly wild and remote experience. You'll likely get to see some wildlife along the way and you will 100% see some spectacular views.

One of the benefits of mountain biking in British Columbia is the sheer number of locations and trails, which helps to spread out riders and avoid traffic jams. Yes, there are still some popular areas that draw a crowd, but there are plenty of places to escape. There's also the sheer number of trail types to consider. There is plenty of flowy, machine built intermediate trails to enjoy. In the same area you might find a technically difficult descent, rooty, raw and fast. Through in a rock slab or two, and maybe some skinny bridges, log rides, and fun features, and you'll have the time of your life. For an intermediate to advanced rider looking to both enjoy themselves and challenge themselves, BC is the place to go.
