Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing

Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada

Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing (STHS) has been running heli-skiing operations out of Revelstoke, British Columbia, since 1978, when Swiss mountain guide Peter Schlunegger — a fourth-generation guide whose family's mountain guiding roots trace back to 1899 in nearby Rogers Pass — staged the operation's first exploratory flights near the Tangiers River in the Selkirk Mountains. Now in its fifth decade, STHS holds the largest heli-ski tenure in Revelstoke: over 500,000 acres and 400+ established runs across the Selkirk and Monashee ranges, bordered by two national parks and averaging 40 to 60 feet of snowfall a year. STHS operates from the Coast Hillcrest Hotel, just minutes from downtown Revelstoke, where guests check in, gear up, and fly directly from the property. The operation runs a mixed helicopter fleet — the Airbus H125 (A-Star), Bell 212, and Bell 412 — flown in partnership with Wildcat Helicopters of Kelowna, BC, allowing STHS to match aircraft to group size, from small private parties to larger multi-day groups. Packages range from single-day outings to week-long multi-day trips, along with private charters, heli-assisted touring for experienced backcountry skiers, and Pinnacle packages that pair private heli-skiing with luxury partner-lodge stays. All guiding is provided by ACMG/IFMGA-certified guides, and every package includes use of STHS's powder ski and snowboard fleet along with emergency medical and helicopter evacuation coverage. Since 2007, STHS has operated as part of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, giving guests the option to pair their heli-skiing with lift access to North America's highest vertical descent (5,620 feet) at the neighboring resort. STHS is led today by General Manager Dave Pehowich, who joined the operation in 1996 and worked his way up through guiding and operations before taking the role in 2022.
