Dragonfly Kite Safaris runs weeklong, all-inclusive kitesurfing and wing foiling safaris on Egypt's Red Sea, based out of Hurghada. Guests live aboard DRAGON, the company's 60-meter, five-level mega-yacht, and spend the week riding at uninhabited islands north of Hurghada that can only be reached by boat, including Tawila, North and South Geisum, Ashrafi, and Abu Mongar. Dragonfly is owned and run by Jonathan Thesenga and Islam Ali, and has operated on the Red Sea for eight seasons. Every safari is staffed and run by their own team, including the owners. They don't consolidate or sell bookings to other operations, so a confirmed trip stays a confirmed trip. They've won Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Award three years running (2023, 2024, and 2025), and they describe themselves as the only kite safari on the Red Sea officially partnered with Duotone. What sets their safaris apart is the open itinerary. Many kite safaris sail a fixed route between a couple of islands. Dragonfly checks the forecast each evening and moves the yacht to wherever conditions look best for the next day. That might be a kilometer-wide lagoon of waist-deep water, an island-hopping downwinder, or a session off a small sandbar. The spots are shallow and sand-bottomed, with clean north/northwest wind, so they work as well for first-timers as for riders working on new tricks. Scheduled safaris run Saturday to Saturday during the Red Sea's peak wind season, May through October, and are capped at 26 guests. Groups of up to 28 can also charter the whole yacht for a private safari with their own dates, guest list, and itinerary. Beginners, advanced riders, couples, families, solo travelers, and non-kiters are all welcome. Lessons, Duotone rental gear, and non-kiting activities are available on board.

DRAGON (Mega-Yacht)
DRAGON is Dragonfly Kite Safaris' home base and guest accommodation for every safari. The 60-meter, five-level mega-yacht launched for the 2026 season, and Dragonfly bills it as the largest yacht on the Red Sea. It departs from the marina in Hurghada, Egypt, about 15 minutes from the airport, and spends the week anchored off the islands north of the city. It moves between kite spots as the forecast dictates, sailing overnight or early in the morning depending on distance. Guests stay in air-conditioned, double-occupancy rooms with a mini-fridge and private shower and bathroom. Upgrades are available to sea-view rooms, single occupancy, or the Platinum Suite. Shared spaces include a dining room, lounge areas, and an upper-deck plunge pool. Meals are prepared on board by the yacht's chef, and speedboats shuttle guests between the yacht and the day's beach every 30 minutes from sunrise to sunset. The final night of each safari is spent aboard DRAGON back at the marina in Hurghada, followed by breakfast and transfers the next morning.
