Dragonfly Kite Safaris

Egypt

Dragonfly Kite Safaris runs weeklong, all-inclusive kitesurfing and wing foiling safaris on Egypt's Red Sea, based out of Hurghada. Guests live aboard DRAGON, the company's 60-meter, five-level mega-yacht, and spend the week riding at uninhabited islands north of Hurghada that can only be reached by boat, including Tawila, North and South Geisum, Ashrafi, and Abu Mongar. Dragonfly is owned and run by Jonathan Thesenga and Islam Ali, and has operated on the Red Sea for eight seasons. Every safari is staffed and run by their own team, including the owners. They don't consolidate or sell bookings to other operations, so a confirmed trip stays a confirmed trip. They've won Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Award three years running (2023, 2024, and 2025), and they describe themselves as the only kite safari on the Red Sea officially partnered with Duotone. What sets their safaris apart is the open itinerary. Many kite safaris sail a fixed route between a couple of islands. Dragonfly checks the forecast each evening and moves the yacht to wherever conditions look best for the next day. That might be a kilometer-wide lagoon of waist-deep water, an island-hopping downwinder, or a session off a small sandbar. The spots are shallow and sand-bottomed, with clean north/northwest wind, so they work as well for first-timers as for riders working on new tricks. Scheduled safaris run Saturday to Saturday during the Red Sea's peak wind season, May through October, and are capped at 26 guests. Groups of up to 28 can also charter the whole yacht for a private safari with their own dates, guest list, and itinerary. Beginners, advanced riders, couples, families, solo travelers, and non-kiters are all welcome. Lessons, Duotone rental gear, and non-kiting activities are available on board.

Moreias

Camocim, Ceará, Brazil

Fazenda Moréias is a kitesurfing destination and working farm on the west coast of Ceará, Brazil. It sits in the municipality of Camocim, between Preá and Barra Grande, about 1 to 1.5 hours from Jericoacoara Airport. The property covers more than 23 million m² of dunes, lagoons, mangrove and coastline, including 9 km of beach inside a 20 km protected reserve where building is restricted. That protection keeps the water uncrowded, so riders don't have to fight for space or share the horizon with a long line of kites. Kiting at Moréias runs through their on-site kite school, led by Guilly Brandão. Moréias notes that Guilly is a three-time kite wave world champion, a five-time Brazilian wave champion and a four-time freestyle champion. He also coaches world champions Gabriel Benetton and Pedro Matos, who train at Moréias. The school sits right on the beach in standing-depth water and teaches every level, from a first lesson through to athlete training. Duotone equipment is available on site, and beach staff meet riders at the water's edge. The wind is the reason riders come. Moréias reports more than 200 days of wind a year, with wind every day from August to December. The same stretch of coast has waves for kite wave riding, flat water for learning tricks, and shallow lagoons (Lagoa da Torta and Lagoa das Moréias) that suit beginners and wing foilers. The farm is also a starting point for downwinders along the coast toward Tatajuba, Jericoacoara, Preá and Barra Grande. Off the water, visitors stay in the farm's Short Stay bungalows and houses, each with its own pool. Meals are at Orós, the beachfront restaurant where Belgian chef Hervé Witmeur signs the menu. His dishes are built on produce from the farm's garden, the local fishermen and the Coreaú mangrove. Non-riding days are easy to fill with horseback rides, kayaking through the mangrove, sandboarding on the dunes, more than 50 km of trails, birdwatching and yoga. That range makes Moréias a strong fit for kiters traveling with family or non-riding partners.

The Rider Experience

Panama, Provincia de Panama, Panama

The Rider Experience is a UK-based kitesurfing travel company that runs kite cruises and a beachfront kite camp for riders of every level, from first-timers to advanced kiters focused on progression. Founder Brendan Rider started it after sailing from Colombia to Panama through the San Blas Islands. That trip became their first kite cruise, and soon after they set up a kitesurfing guesthouse in Punta Chame, Panama. Today Brendan runs the company with Ronja Geppert. They have more than 10 years of experience, and the owners personally run their kite camps and most of their cruises. Their two signature Adventures follow the wind through the year. From May to October, the Egypt Kite Cruise spends a week aboard a luxury motor yacht in the Red Sea. It sails out of Hurghada and moves between desert-island kite spots based on the wind rather than a fixed itinerary. From December to April, the Panama Kite House in Punta Chame puts riders right on the country's main kitesurfing beach, with the area's sandbars and lagoons close by. For private groups, The Rider Experience also arranges luxury catamaran and motor yacht kite cruises in the Bahamas, Panama's San Blas archipelago, St Vincent and the Grenadines, the Greek Cyclades, and Sardinia and Corsica, as well as private charters in Egypt. They can also send experienced kite instructors and boat crew to join a yacht a group already owns or has chartered. Every trip is built around maximum quality time on the water. That means lessons and coaching with radio helmets, current Duotone and Core equipment, and a social, small-group atmosphere. The operator says roughly half of their riders come back to rebook.

Wild Kite Peru

Peru

Wild Kite Peru is a small kitesurfing school and kite camp based in Máncora, on the north coast of Peru. They describe themselves as the only IKO-certified kitesurfing school in Máncora and northern Peru, they run as a North Kiteboarding Center, and they've been teaching, guiding, and exploring this stretch of the Peruvian North Shore for more than 15 years. Lessons cover both kitesurfing and wing foiling, and beginners leave with an IKO certification they can use to rent gear or keep progressing at IKO schools anywhere in the world. The conditions are the draw. Wild Kite Peru's season runs from mid-April to mid-January, when a steady southwest thermal wind fills in around midday and blows until about 5 PM. The North Shore sits where two ocean currents meet and picks up both north and southwest swells, so there's a wide spread of wave and flat-water spots within an hour's drive. On guided day trips to those spots, Wild Kite Peru reports a 98.5% chance of riding on any given day during the season; in Máncora itself the wind is less consistent, around 4–5 days a week, but the bay is well suited to foiling. Most spots have sandy bottoms and side-onshore wind, and the water averages around 23°C. Their offering is built in layers. Beginners can start with a short taster, private or semi-private multi-day courses, or hourly lessons, and advanced riders can book coaching for new tricks. Week-long camps pair kite lessons with lodging and breakfast, with options to add morning yoga, surf, or stand-up paddle sessions. For experienced riders, the wave program is the standout: daily kite surfaris aboard a Land Cruiser to five different wave kite spots and up to three downwinders, in small groups of no more than 6 to 7 riders, with optional strapless and intensive wave-riding coaching that includes video analysis and theory sessions. Wild Kite Peru also runs a surf camp (Algae Surf Camp), stand-up paddle lessons and tours, and rents North and Mystic kite gear, wave boards, hydrofoils, surfboards, and SUPs. Guests can stay at La Maison, Wild Kite Peru's 7-room eco boutique guest house a short walk from Máncora's main kite and surf spot, or Wild Kite Peru can arrange other lodging in the area, from simple guest houses to a 4-star boutique hotel on the beach and private house rentals with a chef. Trip length and dates are flexible, and every stay can be shaped around a theme: lessons, wave riding, yoga and wellness, family time, or a social trip. Wild Kite Peru gives 1% of its profits to ocean protection NGOs. Contact Heli to check dates and book.

Wind Seekers

egypt, Egypt

The Wind Seekers is a kitesurfing safari operator based on Egypt's Red Sea, running week-long, live-aboard kite trips out of Hurghada to the islands of the northern Red Sea. Founded and run by Moustafa Abbas, the operation is built around a simple idea: live on a yacht for the week, wake up anchored at a new spot, and spend the days kiting flat, turquoise lagoons that are hard to reach any other way. Their core offering is a scheduled 8-day, 7-night kite safari that runs Saturday to Saturday for a small group. The operator caps it at 22 riders per week. Days follow a steady rhythm: sunrise sessions, a long midday session, and a sunset session, with Zodiac boats shuttling riders between the yacht and the islands and a rescue boat on the water at all times. The Wind Seekers promotes their weekly trips aboard the Katana, a 50-metre yacht with 13 cabins. The trips are open to every level. Beginners can book a course with their IKO-certified instructors. Intermediate riders get their level assessed and coaching from there. Advanced riders can book lessons in big air, loops, freestyle, directional, and foiling. The Wind Seekers also invites professional riders onto their cruises to share tips throughout the week, and they partner with dive operator Into The Blue for diving, from first dives to full courses. Alongside the weekly safaris, The Wind Seekers hosts KiteFest, a larger week-long event that has now run for four editions. KiteFest spreads riders across 3 yachts and adds gear demos from kite brands, 1-on-1 coaching clinics with pro riders, and island and boat parties with guest DJs. They also run fully private, all-inclusive kite safaris for groups and corporate events, with the route and on-board details built around the group. Non-kiters are welcome on every trip. Snorkelling, swimming with dolphins, yoga, beach volleyball, and beach barbecues fill the days when the wind drops or when kiting isn't the goal.
